Michelle Dao started dancing at the age of 13 at Dancin’ Stars studio in Burnaby where her passion for dance began. She trained in jazz, ballet, and hip hop and has competed in various groups and solos with many first place and top group awards. Shortly after, Michelle travelled to Winnipeg, Manitoba and danced with teams such as Project Dance Company and TwoFourSeven. She continued to compete in dance competitions, locally, nationally, and even world wide at the Hip Hop International Competition, placing top ten in the world with her team. She currently trains at Studio 604 and at Harbour Dance Centre and teaches jazz and hip hop at the Guildford School of Music and Dance. Her passion and love for dancing and teaching continues to grow everyday! Michelle is so excited to be a part of the Burnaby Mountain Team and looks forward to watching her students grow and emerge as aspiring artists.

Welcome to the team Miss Michelle!

Our competitive hip hop team is a student-led club that practices twice a week after school to prepare choreography for local high school dance competitions and other performance opportunities. This group is sponsored by Ms. Worobets and Ms. Douglas, but is usually coached by BMSS alumni. Students in this crew have the opportunity to build skills in choreography and performance, as well work with like-minded performers who all love hip hop! Auditions are held at the start of each school year, and are open to students in grades 8-12. Enrolment in a grade-appropriate dance course is recommended!
