Ms Worobets has been dancing since the age of 3. She has trained in a variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre. After graduation, she was accepted into SFU’s School for Contemporary Arts, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance and English. She has been teaching dance at Burnaby Mountain since 2007 and has since completed a Master’s Degree in Education. Ms Worobets believes that dance not only teaches the body, but also the mind and the heart, and encourages students to find their passion in movement and music.

Ms Worobets is excited to have the opportunity to work with Miss Douglas as a permanent member of the dance faculty this year, and is excited to continue watching the dance program at Burnaby Mountain grow and thrive.

Mrs. Pattenaude (formerly Miss Douglas or “Dougie”) joined the Burnaby Mountain Dance Staff in 2013 and brings with her 27 years of dance training and experience. At the age of 3, Mrs. Pattenaude began with tap and jazz. Soon after, she added ballet, lyrical, hip hop and many other forms to her repertoire. She trained at Dancentral Studio in Red Deer, Alberta (now called Strive Academy) until the age of 18. After graduation, Mrs. Pattenaude went abroad and danced with Carnival Cruise Lines for three contracts. In 2008, Mrs. P made it back to land and enrolled in the B.A Dance Degree Program at the University of Calgary. Her next adventure led her out to Burnaby where she was accepted into SFU’s Professional Development Program in Education. Mrs. Pattenaude graduated from the B.Ed program in 2013 with teachables in both Dance and English. In 2015, she was drawn back to SFU as a Masters student in the Arts Education program where she successfully completed her degree in August 2017.

Teaching dance has been a part of Mrs. Pattenaude’s life since she was 16 years old. Her ballet teacher asked her to assist and co-choreograph solos, duets and extra work and this was the beginning of an incredible love. Mrs. Pattenaude has been teaching dance for 15 years for students aged 3 – 63 in various settings including; private studios, the City of Calgary’s recreation program, and The City of Burnaby’s Dance Program through the Shadbolt Center for the Arts. Mrs. Pattenaude is thrilled to be a part of the Burnaby Mountain Dance Program and looks forward to another amazing year of dancing, learning and growing with the students.
